šodiena veltīta Renesansei. Draudzēšos ar Burkharda The Civilization of the Renaissance in Italy un Sārtōna [appreciacion of] Ancient and Medieval Science During the Renaissance (1450–1600). Sārtōns sāk apņēmīgi — "It has been argued by old-fashioned humanists that the history of science is of less interest than other kinds of history, because the main values of life are in the fields of art, philosophy, literature, not in the fields of science and technology. This misunderstanding is caused by the following facts. Firstly, the teachers of science have to deal each of them with such enormous amounts of knowledge that they have no time to explain the historical development. Now, if one neglects the humanities of a field, then ipso facto that field lacks humanity. Secondly, the history of any subject is interesting in proportion to our knowledge of it. [...] Too many of our scientists (event the most distinguished ones) are technicians and nothing more. Our aim is to humanize science and the best way of doing that is to tell and discuss the history of science. If we succeed, men of science will cease to be mere technicians, and will become educated men", bet diezgan drīz kļūst skaidrs, ka viņa darba galvenā vērtība ir bibliogrāfiska. Grāmatā minēto persōnu indeksā ir ap 1000 laikam tak svarīgu cilvēku, man acis sareiba jau trešajā lappusē. nemaz nerunājot par to mazvērtības kompleksu, kādā var iedzīvoties, lasot tādus gabalus. var pārņemt sajūta, ka tālāk par konjunktīvu un konjunktivītu mana izziņa nesniedzas.
