| 10:03 pm | Philippines Dog Kabang Returns Home after Face Surgery A dog that lost half her face saving two girls from an oncoming motorcycle has returned to the Philippines after eight months of treatment in the US. The mixed-breed dog, Kabang, lost her snout and upper jaw in the incident in December 2011. The hero dog jumped into the path of a motorcycle, stopping it from hitting her owner’s daughter and niece in the southern city two years ago. The accident left a gaping hole in the two-year old dog’s face. Kabang’s heroic tale prompted an outpouring of sympathy, with fundraising campaigns set up on Facebook and Twitter. Doctors at the University of California operated on Kabang’s wounds, and treated her for a tumour and heartworm. The dog was greeted by a crowd of well-wishers at Manila airport and later reunited with her owner, Rudy Bunggal, in Zamboanga.

LAIN is a minimalist design created by Spain-based designer Pablo García Guardiola. LAIN is composed of only 3 shelves and 4 rods and 12 safety stops. This developed using an anchoring system based on the tensions exerted on the parts, avoiding additional fixing elements such as screws or adhesives and use of assembly tools. Casa VU is a minimalist house located in Lima, Peru, designed by TDC. The project is set on a cliff with a steep slope and a privileged view to an isle on the sea. Every room tends to open up to this natural surrounding through overlapped volumetries which generate shadows and open spaces such as the terrace which ends up becoming a contemplation space. TAOA Studio is a minimalist interior located in Beijing, China, designed by Tao Lei Architecture Studio. An abandoned warehouse was originally located on the site prior to this construction. In an effort to reduce costs, the building kept a lot of the original structure. The interior is very spacious, with open partitions separating the spaces within. Menswear still seems a little boring, because there are like 100 designers doing the same things, but this allows some designers to surprise us. Carven‘s Artistic Director, Guillaume Henry consistently manages to meld the often expected elements of classical menswear, with his own offbeat approach and design elements. Presented in a corporate-like stage set, his men’s office wardrobe was a stunning visual display of bold prints and traditional fabrics. Despite everything that is going on, there seems to be an unmistakable simplicity about the whole collection which is most fitting of a modern businessman, except for the daring suit pants which literally falls short.
