It's so unfair! You're in trouble again, just because you called your uncle - or rather, your new stepfather, Claudius - a usurping git. It's true, though. Your real dad was SO much better than that guy. Too bad he was found mysteriously dead in the orchard a couple of weeks back. Anyway, your mother (who was, incidentally, looking quite something today in a sparse leather number, er...) sent you to your room, and here you are.
Bedroom You are in your luxurious palatial boudoir, all of ten feet square. There is a four-poster bed, and not much else. A portrait hangs on the wall. An exit leads north.
> n Outside bedroom This is an east-west corridor in the palace. Your bedroom door is in the south wall. An opening in the north wall leads on to the balcony. Horatio is here. Exits are north, east, south and west.
> talk Horatio Horatio says: "Hamlet! You're not going to believe this, but I saw your father's ghost out on the balcony last night!"
> n Balcony You are on the palace balcony. Bats are flapping around in the twilight. Miles and miles of crinkly Danish countryside stretch out below you. A ghost is here. An exit leads south.
> talk ghost "Hey Dad," you say cheerily. "What's up?" "Hamlet," says the old man after a sigh, "you remember how I was found mysteriously dead in the orchard a couple of weeks back? Well... it's like this. Your uncle Claudius poisoned me so he could become king and marry your mother. I'd be awfully grateful if you could kill him for me." "All right," you say, "I'll do it!" Your life suddenly seems to have purpose. The ghost clears his throat impatiently. |
