The collective trauma from 3 occupations within 5 years followed by the 50 years under Soviet shitrule and derived consequences of tortured souls and minds deeply engraved in each family here in Baltics still manifests itself in so many ways. Even through denial of the causality and importance of keeping it clear and rememberec. Killed and expelled relatives, forced lies to survive via unwanted collaboration, crushed self-esteem, guilt and lots of alcohol to soften the swallowing of everyday's shame in the country that was once free and dearest above all.
At some point I decided to leave it all behind and look only for what I can do to move forward with my life and all the good and beautiful things to create. |
