He made his points, but backed down with grace if he couldn't sustain them. He is clever and coherent, but he saw the boundaries of his expertise (or maybe he just wanted to appease and have me move along) - but what was affecting was that he recognised the emotional nature of those boundaries (he has no kids, he is well-paid, and his in-laws aren't 'getting by' on a pension of .. lats a month). He seemed upset about this and it was affecting. It's a good job I wasn't drinking, else God knows how sentimental I would have become. |
