Ņujorkas WNBA komanda parakstījusi līgumu ar Latvijas basketbolisti Lieni Jansoni. 188 cm garā Jansone cīnīsies par centra vietu. Pirmā spēle Ņujorkai 20. maijā. Ņujorkas labākā spēlētāja ir 168 cm garā saspēles vadītāja Bekija Hamona.
2 Ņujorkas spēles rādīs ASV nacionālā televīzija ABC, kas rāda arī NBA [finālus]. Vēl 2 spēles rādīs ESPN2.
The Liberty has acquired two more players to add to its 2006 roster. Svetlana Volnaya and Liene Jansone have signed with the team. Both are international players who played college ball here in the States and will bring that experience to New York.
A 2004 graduate of Siena College, Jansone is also currently playing professionally in Europe. In 18 games, the 6’2” center is averaging 17.8 and 10.3 rebounds in 36.4 minutes of action for Yaya Maria Porta XI in Spain.
