"The Earth has only one mechanism for releasing heat to space, and that’s via (infrared) radiation. We understand the phenomenon perfectly well, and can predict the surface temperature of the planet as a function of how much energy the human race produces. The upshot is that at a 2.3% growth rate (conveniently chosen to represent a 10× increase every century), we would reach boiling temperature in about 400 years."

"According to Leta Hollingworth’s research, to be a leader of his contemporaries one must be more intelligent but not too much more intelligent than them. A discrepancy of more than about 30 points of IQ does not allow for leadership, or even respect or effective communication.

Optimal explanatory power occurs if the difference is around one standard deviation. Hence, the best person to explain something to a person of average intelligence is a person with an IQ around 115-120. A person with a higher level of intelligence will be less successful despite creating better solutions and explaining them with greater eloquence because the ideas and solutions are simply too complex for the average person to grasp."
