Viss buutu ok, tikai HTML nav domaats tam. Kuru interesee taads projektinjsh? |

...it develops that Alan Kay is an agent of the Underground, which is called Dobbs' Lightning because of Heraclitus' idea that Dobbs first manifested Himself as a lightning bolt which created the world. It was in Dobbs' Lightning that I first read Tux Sneezed, which I still think is a rip-roaring good yarn. The scene where Atlanta Hope sees Niklaus Wirth and it's her old *ahem* "boyfriend" with the gaunt cheeks, and he said "I am Bob Dobbs", man, that's writing. The 103-page long speech afterwards, explaining the importance of strong typing and showing why all the anti-Heracletians are destroying civilization by destroying strong typing, certainly is persuasive, especially to me who's got three (going on four) contracts, each of which share the same include files. "Without strong typing there can be no civilization." Her nonfiction book, "Antitrust: The Unknown Ideal for the New Heracletian" is, I think, a distinct letdown, but the Dobbs' Lightning bumper stickers sure give people the creeps. I met Atlanta Hope at the time of the IEEE Committee Riots. I was in the thick of it (you have no idea how bizarre civil war gets when one side uses nerf weapons as a large part of its arsenal), and met Atlanta herself where the last stand was being made. She grabbed my right arm and howled something like "War is the Health of the State! Conflict is the creator of all things!" Seeing as how she was on a heavy Heraclitus wavelength, I quoted with great passion, "Men should fight for the Laws as they would for the walls of the city!" That won her, and I was Atlanta's personal lieutenant for the rest of the battle. no slashdot komentāriem: http://developers.slashdot.org/comm |

Here's the rest of the file. Wow. //This file was written by XXXX Pro to make C++ easier for Pascal programmers. ( ... tālāk ... ) # re: #include "pascal.h" 10/27/2004 3:22 PM Jeff S It's funny to see things defined as nothing, so they are ignored. Aparently for nice-reading code. This gives me some good ideas; you could do: #define please #define also #define thanks #define let then you can write code like: also please let a = 1 thanks |

http://thedailywtf.com/archive/2004/10/1 re: HowBigIsMyCallStackSort() 10/13/2004 3:21 PM chris I admit to having done worse. I would state that it does not matter. Moreover, Big-O notation is important but does not take into account the bussiness-world-centric rules of development time vs runtime. If you know your datasets are smallish, a quick hack search with little development time is always better than a well thought out search that takes even just an hour or so longer. This is precisely why I left the world of business applications. |

Getting back to the subject of scientific method and its possible application to programming, readers may be interested in the observation of Thorngate, who offers that a theory/model cannot simultaneously be general, accurate and simple. It's like a one-armed clock: it can point to any of these three or in between them, but no more. |

Tā, puiši un meitenes! Griežos pie jums ar tādu lietu - SC vajag fīču. Fīču tādu, lai varētu iegūt svešu jūzeru postus ar visiem komentāriem, utml, machine-readable format'ā. * XML paskatās ar "samirkuša suņa" skatienu.. Nafig? Tādēļ, lai es varētu izveidot pilnvērtīgu WAP SC klientu, padarīt visus atkarīgus no manas labvēlības un galu galā - izmantojot politisko reklāmu WAP lapā, gāzt valdību, no sākuma tikai Latvijā, pēctam arī visā pasaulē. Un vispār tas varētu būt diezgan noderīgi.. Viens no variantiem kā to varētu izdarīt - izveidot globālu s2 stilu, pēctam pieprasot http://journal.bad.lv/~kaku_lacis/?s2id=6 Uzslavas, spams un fleims komentāros. Veiksmīgu dienu vēlot, Guncha. |

A lot of people have opined that VB.NET and C# are in many ways the "same language", just with different syntax. If you were to take a chess board and change it from black and white to red and blue and you renamed all the pieces, but didn't change the more fundamental rules about the ways the pieces moved, the new game would in a very real sense be "the same game as chess," right? Whether VB.NET and C# really are in that sense mere syntactic variations on each other is a debatable point -- I think it is not nearly so cut-and-dried as some people think. There are a lot of reasons I think that, and I don't want to go into all of them today. One of the most interesting and important to me though is the most ineffable -- the "spirit" of a language in many ways both transcends its syntax and suffuses some small decisions in interesting ways. |

It's too cheap to quickly pump out code, then run it by QA. You don't even need a shoddy programmer to do it...just pile too many high-priority near-deadline tasks on a good programmer. (Which is all too likely...if you build a reputation for getting things done, you'll get landed with a workload that would put a tech-support guy in a funny farm.) |

In other words, the software quality problem has gotten so bad that the hardware guys are trying to solve it, too. http://acmqueue.com/modules.php?name=Con |

http://www.hacknot.info/hacknot/action/sWhen it comes to the maintenance and extension of legacy code, and clearing the organizational hurdles associated with the handover of code from one party to another, a reliance on "face to face" communication is very convenient for the first generation of developers, and a chain around the leg of every other developer and organization involved thereafter. |

All physical computers are equivalent to finite state machines, due to the fact that their memory is not infinite. A computer with 64 megs of RAM along with 8 32-bit registers has a total of 536871168 bits of memory. Hence, such a machine can take on a finite number of states, namely: 2^536871168 states. It's a collossal number of states, but the fact is, all computers with finite memory are finite state machines. |

It should be noted that no ethically-trained software engineer would ever consent to write a DestroyBaghdad procedure. Basic professional ethics would instead require him to write a DestroyCity procedure, to which Baghdad could be given as a parameter. (Nathaniel S Borenstein) If we wish to count lines of code, we should not regard them as lines produced but as lines spent. (Edsger Dijkstra) http://www.sysprog.net/quotlang.htm |

This is where i want APLC to help. I want to collect implementations in various "languages", for a few
trivial algorythms (bubblesort etc) and applications. |
