ULTRAVIOLET SPIDER MATING: Mating under ultraviolet light isn't just for ravers anymore. A report in this week's Science finds that parts of the ornate jumping spider Cosmophasis umbratica
glow under UV light and arouse the opposite sex. Spiders showed no
interest in potential mates illuminated under UV-deficient light,
whereas full spectrum light produced a mate-a-thon.
