"People just don't understand what a massive amount of energy it takes to make steel, to shape it into the right forms, what an amount of energy it takes to make concrete and how much you need of that, how much energy it takes to make all the copper wire (not even talking about the mining) and electronics, the groundwork, the laying of cables, the electrical connections and its housings, plus all the transport cost, in energy, and so on, up to the cleaning lady in the office where this is planned wrt location, that uses cleaning solutions that also cost energy to make, not to mention the engineer that's sitting at his computer, but drives home in his electric car (powered from fossil fuel), the mechanic and electrical engineer that have to do maintenance on these, that need to drive there and back, regularly. Ppl just don't grasp the complexity of all this and the vast amount of energy it takes to create it."
