Adrere Amellal indigenous eco-hotel in Egypt by EQI http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/dyt/~3/aCzREoeRUvg/ http://designyoutrust.com/?p=436564
The Siwa oasis is located at the banks of the self-titled lake in Egypt around 50 km east of the Libyan border – a desert land of rock and sand that has been inhabited by various civilizations for over 10,000 years and still holds vestiges of evidence. The ancient Siwan houses, crumbling over years of abandon, have been restored and extended using traditional methods to create the ‘Adrere Amellal hotel’, an eco-lodge so sensitive to its environment it does not offer wifi, phone service, electricity, or the usual trappings of contemporary comfort.

Drents Archive by Zecc Architects http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/dyt/~3/1gVticiHY_M/ http://designyoutrust.com/?p=436587
The monumental building had a very closed character before the conversion and was accessed via a small tower on the Brink of Assen. With a new entrance to the pavilion on the other side of the building it has become accessible and inviting. A long meandering path takes you to the breathtaking entrance. Through this futuristic ‘time machine’ you enter the old archive building and history unfolds. The monumental state archive consists of three components from different periods and styles. A cloister from the Middle Ages is one of the oldest pieces of Assen. Around 1900 architect Lokhorst built the main building in neo-style, around 1980 architect Tauber realized an expansion with reading and underground archives. This last part is now equipped with a new entrance, which is the most recent addition in the series.

Casa Camino in Chihuahua http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/dyt/~3/ZM8FxuohuDs/ http://designyoutrust.com/?p=436612
Casa Camino is a project belonging to Mexico City-based studio Parque Humano and located in Chihuahua, Mexico. Its architecture had to be adapted to the semi-arid climate. According to the architects, the residence “occupies a natural ledge in the hillside, facing the view to the east and turning its back to the winds coming from the north, we have privileged the views to the city and the panorama hills of the valley. The house has a mixed structure of steel and concrete, plus outer faces of stone to create a rapport with the surroundings. The inside walls are in white stucco, while the ceilings lined with wood. The house is developed as one floating volume and a semi buried podium“. Structured on two levels, the residence accommodates the living room, dining spaces, kitchen, studio and the master bedroom on the main floor. On Abbot Kinney – Michael C. Dumler http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/dyt/~3/9rnYt8ddw6Y/ http://designyoutrust.com/?p=436649
Michael C. Dumler is a Santa Monica based Street Style Photographer. On his blog, entitled On Abbot Kinney, you rarely find people dressed in only the latest high-fashion clothing. On Abbot Kinney is about real genuine style. Here’s how he beautifully describes his work, get inspired:
“Think back to when you met someone that is now your mentor, friend, or perhaps wife, what did you first notice? Did you notice how they spoke or their taste in films? Most likely you noticed what they were wearing or how they held themselves.
For me I met one of the most important people of my life in 2010 on Abbot Kinney. The first thing I noticed about him was how well dressed he was. This friend taught me to pursue my passions relentlessly.
I’ve found in my two years on Abbot Kinney that the people that attract my eye often have amazing stories that inspire me and enrich my life. With this in mind I hope to share with you what I see and am inspired by.
These are the stories I capture everyday, I hope you find yours.”
It’s also fascinating how you can experience his eye for fashion and style evolving from shot to shot. As i dug deeper into the archives of his blog I wasn’t able to find more shots I liked. He becomes better everyday and this is very exciting.

Mysterious Robot Adventure http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/dyt/~3/wuvCi_6uqPI/ http://designyoutrust.com/?p=436662
Photographer Thomas Jackson has a comical series of photographs featuring a lone robot. The photos, at first, capture mundane chores such as doing the laundry or mowing the lawn but take a turn for the mysterious. Jackson draws inspiration from science fiction and literature to give the robot’s story a “darkly humorous narrative.” The series is meant to examine the uneasy relationship we have with Mother Nature. While beautiful and fascinating, nature can still elicit fear and confusion. The robot represents our complicated relationship with the natural world and our failed attempts to try and tame the surrounding environment.

Into the Water (it’s summer!). Illustrations by Yuko Shimizu http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/dyt/~3/k95Otplxh_Q/ http://designyoutrust.com/?p=436688 “It’s June! It’s summer! Well, at least it is if you live in the Northern Hemisphere. Here are collection of some of the images I have created over the years in the theme of water and swimming.
Whey therea are so many, you may wonder? I have serious hydrophobia. I never learned how to properly swim. I don’t even go to the beach, and I won’t go into the water that is deeper than chest level. It is, in a way, my fantasy. I can swim as much as I like in my drawing.”
