Vēl par šodienas balsojumu.

Ja vēl ar Stambulas konvenciju labticīgi cilvēki varēja censties kaut kā tomēr neredzēt ES ideoloģisko ievirzi, tad nu jau tas, manuprāt, nepavisam nav vairs iespējams, tas ir kā neredzēt milzīgu, neglītu graffiti uz sienas.

In March, an EU delegation (EU member states, the European commission, members of the European Parliament) will travel to New York to represent the EU at the UN Women coordinated Commission on the Status of Women (CSW).

The CSW is considered a pivotal annual moment when all UN states come together to measure the advancement of women's rights. While not legally binding, the conclusions of CSW display the globally agreed and collectively negotiated commitments on women’s equality.

The EU’s role in this UN forum is not only important, as it reflects the joint position of the Union, but also influential as the EU exerts significant financial and political power globally. As a norm, the position taken by the EU at the CSW is agreed in advance among EU member states and reflects a political consensus.

Today, the European Parliament voted on a resolution that asks the Council of the European Union - i.e. all EU member states - to declare a specific position on the global UN stage: that sex can be disregarded as a protected characteristic in EU law, and instead overwritten by gender identity and the self declared opinion of men who consider themselves to be of female sex.

It is a political declaration of the commitment of the elected body of the EU to erasing women from law, policy and practice.

The declaration was concocted by the EP’s committee on women’s rights (FEMM), which is supposed to be the guardian of EU law on non discrimination on the basis of sex and equality between the sexes.
