    Buffy Meme
Swiped from sara_halfelvenWhen you see this, post another Buffy quote in your own Livejournal. Let's see how long we can make it.Willow: Talk. All talk. 'Blah, blah, Gaia. Blah, blah, moon. Menstrual life-force power thingy.'Buffy: No actual witches in your witch group?Willow: No. Bunch of wanna blessed be's. Nowadays every girl with a henna tattoo and a spice rack thinks she's a sister to the dark ones. And this quote kept running over and over and over at BTW last week. LOVE IT.

    I am returned!
...though, over half of Columbus is without power (because global warming is a myth), and it may be that way until Sunday at this point (and the emergency teams for AEP in Ohio are in Texas right now -- you'd think that by the third hurricane that hit Ohio in six years that they'd know that if it's gonna be huge that the fucking square states can help a little more). I'm in the library right now, and I want my computer at home to work, dammit. Believe me, I'm going out of my mind. I can't charge my phone (Leon took it to work today, so I've got his), my iPod, and I can't watch movies. Reading and knitting is going to get REALLY FUCKING OLD. Maybe I'll start hand-piecing that quilt I've got started. Wish me luck. We also have limited batteries and lamp oil. If I burn through all of my candles this week, I'ma be pissed.I have a couple of heavy duty posts that I'm hand-writing right now, which I'll type in when I get electricity back. I've got some big things to talk about, and they're pretty profound on a spiritual and personal level. Anyone who was at BTW knows about Ben (yes, he called, and he's fine and has power again), and some other people will also know about Bear. If you don't want to hear about either of those, let me know, and I'll try to filter the best I can. As it is, the subject of Bear will be on my Spiritual filter and Ben will be on my Personal filter and possibly the spiritual one as well, because they're kind of related. If anything major happened in the last week, let me know here, because there's no way I can go back for over a week right now in LJ, and I'm not sure when I'm getting power back at home. Such big things in my life right now. Can't wait to share them with you. Oh, and the pictures. Those are great, too.

I've had several people ask me over the last few days if they can work some magick for me. Most times, even if you're part of my very inner circle, I'll say no. I appreciate the thought and the fact that you're willing to do it for me, but there are very few people who I'll ask to work magick for me. It's one of my quirks. I'll come to you. If you want to send strength and get-a-good-job energy, I will accept that. I can use all the good luck energy that I can get.

So, someone in several of my Ravelry groups has this tattoo. It's fabulous. I've asked for her permission to swipe it, as I have the feeling it may be an original design. If she gives permission, here's my quandary:Poll #1219645 Yarn Tattoo

    Brutal
I'd forgotten how brutal the testing for a temp agency is. It's... Damn. I know that I can use the applications that they're throwing at me, but damn, I doubt myself when they ask the questions. I know how to do them, but I don't necessarily do them the way they want and that causes me to fail the question.

    Creepyweird coincidence
I'm reading the Circle of Three series by Isobel Bird (or, well, Michael Thomas Ford, truth be told). I'm on book number 10, Making the Saint. There's a LOT in there about Santeria, a religion that has always made me feel a little weirded out. Yes, I know there are a few of you involved with it on my flist; hear me out. It's not for everyone and it always makes me a little uncomfortable, but those are the things that we should learn to look at deeper, right? To find out why we're uncomfortable? Well, this book has a lot in it that's easing that feeling. At one point, one of the girls is given a necklace of Ogun made of black and green beads. Other color correspondences mentioned in the book were white and blue belonging to Yemaya and white and green belonging to Oya. I've had a necklace of blue and yellow for a long time, going on 15 years, that I got from a friend in Green Bay. I've never thought much about it. I liked it because my high school colors are blue and gold. I got to thinking about the colors in this book and did a little research. Yellow and blue belong to Ochossi. He's the patron of Justice and Hunters, and evidently gets prayed to when one is, among other things, searching for a job. He's a woodland god. His counterparts in the other pantheons are numerous and well known. The one that made me smile a lot?Pan.

    Cryptic Anger
ChiCha: Pacha, don't worry. This baby's not coming out for a while now, but even if it was, I'd give that emperor a piece of my mind. I mean, behavior like that just makes me want to... [Snort] I gotta go wash something.Unlike ChiCha, though, when I get that stressed and angry, I bake. Leon probably wishes I'd clean, but I make yummy stuff chock full of anger. According to my waist size, I've evidently got a lot of anger.

    Inspiration!
I've often told people in my life, most notably da_zhuang, julianhill and imagosdawn, that, more than anything else, I'm the Idea Guy. I can come up with great ideas, but I'm not so good with the follow-through. I know I have quite a few writers on my flist, and I'm wondering if any of them would like to work on putting together a book of short stories about a topic I've come up with. I'm keeping it quiet except for the people who are interested in the writing. I'd like to put this together and come up with something that we can pitch to a publisher. I'm not sure if it'll happen, but I'd REALLY like to give this a try. The theme is epic/high fantasy, and I've just got a VERY bare minimal idea sketched out on paper. Seriously, it's only one statement and three bullet points. If you're interested, leave me a comment, and I'll add you to the filter. Even if you don't usually write fiction but might be interested in giving it a shot, please tell me. There are a few people who I'll be soliciting privately, but that list is short. Anyone's welcome to submit.
