It's hard not to look at these lyrics by Sonicflood and think, "C'mon, get real. No one will be dancing in the streets. We live in the real world." Maybe we have it backwards.
David knew how to dance with joy. When the ark of God was brought back to Jerusalem, David and his men celebrated with all their might. When his wife confronted him, David basically said to her, "I am willing to act like a fool in order to show my joy in the LORD" (2 Samuel 6:21b, NLT).Maybe what's keeping people away from the church is the fact that the Christians they see don't seem to be enjoying themselves. Why is that? Are you worried about what others will think if they see you dancing in the streets? Maybe we should be worried about what they think when we don't.
