If the curator’s text offers a self-confident pat-on-the-back for a member of the old guard of the Latvian art scene, then the works (and the inexplicable placement of stools in the exhibition space) give rise to a certain disbelief. The abstracted landscapes (somewhere in between Edgars Iltners and Boriss Bērziņš), perhaps, are the most compelling. The rest fails to give a proper answer to “why here” and “why thus”.
