Ja brīdī, kad visi sajūsminājās par Ģelža akvareļiem, es nekā tāda tajos nesaskatīju, tāpat kā nekā tāda nesaskatīju arī sekojošajās instalācijās un izstādēs (tajā skaitā iepriekšējā, kas notika XO un šķita kā noteikta vecuma mākslinieka/reklāmista nespēja palaist savu jaunību vaļā, kompensējot kaut ko iedvesmojoties no jaunākiem kolēģiem, piemēram, Kristiana Brektes, kurš apķēzīja miskastmaisus jau tad, kad Ģelzis vēl reklāmu kantorī sēdēja), tad šī izstāde ir lieliska un atliek noelsties: "Bravo, autor, bis!". It īpaši, ka tas notiek pēc Purvīša balvas saņemšanas, jo parasti pēc lieliem pagodinājumiem nāk atslābums un radošās mokas pārspēt pašam sevi.

When everyone went gaga for Ģelzi's watercolors, I didn't understand what's all the fuss about? I also didn't understand what's all the fuss about when his following exhibitions and intallations were opened (including his last previous one in the XO gallery which I perceived as artist's/designer's desperate desire to stay forever young by copying getting inspiration from younger generation's artists like Kristians Brekte, who painted on garbage bags already when Ģelzis was still working away in his Ad office). However this exhibition is outstanding; congratulations and my best regards to the author. Especially beacuse he comes up with this exhibition after receiving the Purviti's Prize which usually leaves its receivers breatlhless and in a creative struggle

Plejāde ar zināmiem un mazāk zienāmiem gleznotājiem un grafiķiem, kuri ir ilustrējuši grāmatas - oriģināldarbi eksponēti pie sienas. Vitrīnās 20 gados godalgotās grāmatas. Acīmredzot, kad autoram ir dots konkrēts, funkcionāls uzdevums, rezultāts izdodas ievērojami pārliecinošāks, nekā, kad jārada "pašam no sevis". Arī šo daudzo autoru darbi vienā izstādē kaut kā labi sapas kopā.. varbūt šī paša iemesla dēļ.

Original prints and paintings of a bunch of well- as well as lesser known painters and graphic artists who have illustrated books are exhibited on the walls. Awarded books exhibited in the vitrines. Apparently if the artist has a specific, functional task to work on, he or she will present way better output then if left alone. Maybe this is why the exhibition - regardless the numerous artists and works it features - work well together as a totality.
