Atbilstoši amerikāņu konstitūcijai, lai kļūtu par ASV prezidentu, ir jāatbilst pieciem priekšnoteikumiem.
Kandidātam:
1) jābūt vismaz 35 gadus vecam; 2) jābūt ASV pilsonim; 3) jābūt ASV rezidentam vismaz 14 gadus; 4) jābūt dzimušam ASV...
Kāds ir piektais priekšnoteikums?

They must be at least 35 years of age, they must be native-born citizens of the United States, and they must have been residents of the U.S. for at least 14 years. Also, a person cannot be elected to a third term as President."
Under the Constitution, the President serves a four-year term. Amendment XXII (which took effect in 1951 and was first applied to Dwight D. Eisenhower starting in 1953) limits the president to either two four-year terms or a maximum of ten years in office should he have succeeded to the Presidency previously and served less than two years completing his predecessor's term
