12:09 - par mūsdienu konserviem

''I think thats the nature of conservative politicians. Usually they don't really have any clear ideology behind their thinking, they are defending status quo because thats what they do, not because they have some fundamental understanding of why X or Y should (or shouldn't) be done. So you get Labour in power for 13 years, in that time they redefined status quo so now conservatives are trying to preserve it while Labour wants to redefine it further. As a result Left always keeps moving further towards the left and conservatives follow closely from behind.

It is losing game. By comparison if you look at any counter-movements that really gained any traction we have only Trump presidency and Brexit. Those two events aren't really conservative things despite growing out of them, many pundits criticized Trump for not really being conservative and they were correct for the most part, but thats precisely why he won. What else is getting some traction? Various pseudo (and some real) nationalistic movements which again, don't have much to do with conservatism.''
