| 12:04 pm [Link] | Russia's Constitutional Court has ruled that the land transfer between Chechnya and Ingushetia was legal. Verdict contravenes the Ingush constitutional court ruling from Oct 30. This is a major precedent for land disputes in the North Caucasus. The first test of this new precedent will be Prigorodny region, in North Ossetia, which Ingush activists now intend to open a case for (to return it to Ingushetia). Chechnya will now likely pursue claims on Dagestan while establishing groundwork for further annexations in Ingushetia. |
