Technically speaking, whatever happens, stays happened. However, how many of us do live in their minds at a specific time when somethning particular HADN'T happened yet?

Cognitive sciences can not make sense of the perception of time, try as they might. We live in certain slices of time. In our head, there is no coherent future and no coherent past, everything is mish-mashed around, depending on context and subject. And thus, our sense of time is confused when confronted with the ACTUAL outside time. Thus, the feelings of lost time, deja vu, et cetera.
