Can the rain stop now? Friday after work I went to the Playhouse to help at the work party. I did a lot of work, although not all of it was very successful/liked by everyone. I did so much spray painting that my pointer finger STILL has no feeling in it! Apparently I am too old for so much lifting/bending over because my body was sore when I left at 11:30.Being so sore did not bode well for Saturday because I had to play Volleyball from 8:00 to 4:30. Yikes, my body hated me. At the end of the day my thighs were on fire and my legs were like Jello! That aside, my team had our more successful tournament to date. I was pretty pleased with my performance. That night I was too tired to do anything fun. I took a bubble bath, went food shopping and replanted/planted some plants. I now have morning glories, sweet peppers and sunflower seeds germinating. They will go in the garden in a few weeks. Im very excited about the sunflowers. :-)Sunday I did some chores and more replanting. I went over to the Playhouse to see about Alpha Psi stuff, but nothing was going on there. I then went to the Antique store downtown. I bought a small cast iron elephant (which will probably go in my garden this summer) and an old church window. The roads were really bad for driving, so I didnt do my other errand. When I got home I started cleaning the church window and the other two windows from my neighbor. Of course, I am an idiot and broke one of the panes of glass! Then I cut myself cleaning the glass. Now I have to decide if I want to use the window I broke or not.Ill try to describe the interior decorating project Im planning with the windows. For those who havent been to my house, my stairwell is right by the front door. One side of the stairway is a big wall, and the other is an open banister. My plan is to hang the windows up on the big wall so that they are placed where real windows might go. Then Im going to hang black and white photos/artwork between them. Hopefully it will look like everything is meant to be there. Ill probably end of painting that wall greyish-purple so that white windows pop.Im planning to go see City of Angels this Friday night. It looks like Deanna and Kara are doing the same. Anyone else want to go that night? Maybe we can all go out to dinner beforehand.Im kind of upset that I just found out about the performance of Ukrainian singers and dancers at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, and I cant go. My sister just *had* to graduate from college that weekend! Ugh. Maybe one of you can go and tell me how it was.Heres an Open Letter to the people who made my lunch today:Dear Central Ave. Quiznos Workers, Your ineptitude really amazes me. When I ordered the salad that comes with beef, blue cheese, onions, tomatoes, vinaigrette and bread, that *is* actually what I wanted to get. I dont understand why you asked me what kind of cheese I wanted on it. Or if I wanted tomatoes and onions. Or black olives? Or what kind of dressing I wanted. I wanted what comes with it! I would have ordered something else or specifically told you if I wanted something else! It is annoying to be asked all these unneccesary questions, and it slows things down! Furthermore, I dont understand why I had to remind you that the salad came with bread and specifically ask you to give me dressing. Then, when I pointed out that the salad came with bread, one of you argued with me that it didn't! Clearly it does, according to your store's own signage. Really. Learn your menu and stop being idiots.Your annoyed customer,Jessica | Tuesday, January 5th, 2010 | 3:49 pm |
Plans and possibilities I just took the first step to possibly adopting one of these cutiesI know I want a white female because they are supposed to cause less of an alergy reaction. I wasn't going to start looking until after my Ireland trip, but these gals are just what I want. I'm hoping I can work something out where that place I'm adopting it from could take it back for just that week. Of course, I would want to go see them and see if I do have an allergy reaction right away. I hope not though!*****************Let's see...this weekendTonight - Playhouse work partyTomorrow - 7:30 to 5:00 Volleyball TournamentSunday - Working at a V-ball tournament in the afternoonTo do:Put up bird house on outside back windowHang venitain blinds in the spare bedroom so I can look into the birdhousePlant some of the vegtable seeds I bought indoorsRe-pot my orchidsWork on class project******************************Sometimes people in my neighborhood are stupid and leave trash in my yard or put crap on it. Today I noticed something in my yard that I had not seen before, but it's a very *nice* thing...a good sized block of marble with a small indentation on the top. It's about 2x1x1' with the indentation being 1x6x2". It will be a perfect bird feeder or planter, that is, if I can move it into my yard. I have no idea where it came from.My neighbor was also throwing out some old windows so I took two of them. They will eventually be part of the decoration I'm planning for my stairwell. This also means I need to go to the antique store on River Street and buy the two old church windows I saw there last time ('Cause now I actually have the ability to do what I want for a reasonable price). | Monday, January 4th, 2010 | 11:57 am |
Fuel Cell Bus Thanks to gordynate for pointing this out.One of the fuel cell buses that I worked on while at UTC is now operating in Hartford!Hooray!Hartford Courant news article | Sunday, January 3rd, 2010 | 8:20 am |
It doesn't tell you how to cook crack. I heard about This Book: Cooked: From the Streets to the Stove, from Cocaine to Foie Gras on NPR and thought of mersidotes. Its the memoir of Jeff Henderson, who used to sell drugs, went to jail, learned how to cook in the jail system, and is now an executive chef at the Bellagio! Not that Meredith could relate to the jail part, but I know she likes memoirs and cooking. I was reminded about this because the head chef from Gatsbys was just on Iron Chef, and he gave Jeff his first job out of prison.____________________________Is it possible to develop an allergy over the past week? I just ate a banana, and my throat started swelling and closing up. It was pretty scary. | Saturday, January 2nd, 2010 | 6:36 am |

Tyra Banks Wannabes Part 3! Once again, Im setting up a poll to bet on who will win this season of Americas Next Top Model !! The first time I did this there was a prize involved that everyone contributed to. Last time there was no prize. This time, there will be a prize, but I will offer it up myself. If you get the answer closest, I will buy you a 2 month paid LJ account! This is to encourage people to participate in the poll. Honestly, even if you dont watch the show, there is a good chance you could just look at the contestants online and guess who is going to win. The past two seasons, no one has gotten the first place contestant right, so it is really up in the air who will win.Everyone will say who they think will win 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. If you guess first place right, and are the only one who guesses right, then you win. If multiple people get it right, then we'll look at who guessed 2nd place right. Out of these people. if no one got 2nd place right, then we'll go to third place. If multiple people guessed both 1st and 2nd place right, then we'll look at their third place choices. In other words, the person who guessed the outcome the best wins, but it is most important to guess 1st place correctly. If no one guesses 1st place correctly, then we will look at who's second place choice won, then their third choice, etc. I think the poll format will work well because no one will be able to see who other people chose before they place their guesses. The poll will close on Wednesday at 7:59 EST, so vote before then! There is usually a repeat of the show on Tuesday night, if you missed it last night. Here is the poll:Poll #937782 America's Next Top Model, Cycle 8! Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: AllI think the following person will win 1st place this season: View Answers | 1:25 am |
Money.. pleasssssse!!! Today was pretty nice. I spent the majority of the day at a spa/yoga center named Breathe. My sister got a massage done, so my mom and I looked around their boutique and had lunch while we waited for her. I ordered a caesar salad wrap and smoothie and my mom ordered some banana thing and a hot chocolate and the total came to 18 dollars.. kinda expensive.. oh well. I shouldn't be one to talk, though. Before I left I ended up buying three pieces of make-up, totaling 90 dollars. Now that's kind of a lot, but whatever.. no regrets. That's it for now. 4 days until I'm back in Buffalo and I cannot wait!!! | Thursday, January 29th, 2009 | 9:36 pm |
Novocain.. blah!! I went to the dentist today, because I had to get a filling done and it was awful.. not really awful, but I still didn't like it. I guess the novocain was probably the worst part about it. Ahhhhhh, and at the end one of the ladies told me I could rinse my mouth and spit, so I tried, but I ended up drooling all over myself. So, that was that, but my mouth was numb for what seemed like forever.. not that great of a feeling, ya know?!! After my dentist appointment my uncle, aunt, cousin and I went to Mendon's nature trails and fed the birds, which actually flew down onto our hands and ate from them. It was an awesome time!! The trail probably took about an hour, hour n a half to walk. One of the first things we saw were a group of deer.. two babies and their mama, they were adorable. Once we got to the bird trail all we had to do was hold our hands out with bird seed on them and they would swoop down and pick out of our hands. And no I didn't get shit on or anything. These birds were tiny chickadees.. extremely cute. The trails were beautiful, especially covered in snow. I've never walked them in the winter, but it was nice being bundled up and breathing in the fresh air. Let's see.. the next time I'll see my family will be thursday for game night, ahahaha. It's gonna be off the wall fun, so don't even mock it, cuz I know you're all jealous!!! | Wednesday, January 28th, 2009 | 7:07 pm |
Short Reflection I've been blessed with the greatest family and friends. This past summer and semester has let me realize this.. so many things have happened.. both good and bad. Probably one of the best friendships I was able to make this year has been with Carmen. We survived a summer together in middle of nowhere Pennsylvania and are now back at UB. We've been in some predicaments, but have had fun through them all. Thanks for all the times you helped to pick me up out of the snow, ohhhhh boy!! ps. Phill is just as awesome, too!! Another wonderful friend I made this summer was with Teresa; I only wish we were closer in distance to one another. I know we haven't been able to talk that much through out the semester, because of our busy schedules, but I definitely plan on visiting her sometime soon. Then there are my Flint roomies. Kim has always been my best friend and it was hard at first this semester adjusting to the apartment and all, but she knows everything about me and I love her!! She's my second mom, thank you for always being there for me. Lauren and I have most definitely gotten closer. She and I live on the same side of the apartment and I love that. We share a bathroom and there is something sentimental about it. Next year we're moving apartments and we'll have our own bathrooms and we're both quite sad about that, hahaha. We won't have our sinks next to one another, tear!! Julie!! She is the new roommate this year and my going out roomie!! We've been able to bond a lot even with pledging. We're both the single roomies, but we're not complaining. We've had our share of fun times with wine and drunken nights stumbling home.. well, after we got our shoes unstuck from the ground, hahahaha.. memories. And Jewelz, know I'll always be there for you, whenever you need me. Then of course there are my pledge sisters, the Alpha Iotas: Rachele, Reb, Kristen, Diane and Stacey. I love these girls with everything. Through all the tears, fights, and laughter we've become extremely close. I would do anything for these girls. We've all had our share of memories with one another. Let's see.. lately these come to mind: Kristen and Stacey, our fun night after our meeting.. too bad we didn't get to super troopers, hehehe. Diane: Sig Ep date party, even though you disappeared half way through the night, ahaha, I wanna see those pictures!! Reb: of course going out, but just our talks and meeting in the union, it's so nice to just be able and chill out with you, thanks!! Rachele: Everything.. you're a great friend and you are always there to listen to me and vice versa. Let's see.. the Sig Ep dinner and everything that included.. target, wegmans, cookies, freezer, Hannakuh and Kwanza, darts, friendship puking, drunken Rachele and her car, sleepovers, I could go on and on!! OK, finally there are my two bestest friends, Amanda and Jen. Jen, we haven't seen a lot of each other lately, but you know I love you and am always here for you.. I wanna go ice skating J-Ho!! Amanda, you are amazing. I never imagined I could have a friend like you. Sooooooo many memories, I love you.On to my family, briefly. Every family is dysfunctional and mine deifnitely is, but I love every single one of them. I have learned to appreciate them a lot more as I've gotten older. I wish I had more time to spend with my aunts and uncles, though. For Christmas I went over to my Uncle's and everyone was there minus my grandparents who are living the good life in Florida as Tori puts it. It is such a fun time. We're so comfortable around one another and no joke, probably about 85% of the time we spend together it's spent laughing. I love it. They are the greatest people to be around. That includes my grandparents.. my Papa makes me laugh the most.. he's such a funny easy-going guy. Anyways, that's enough of my babbling.. I gotta get to bed, so I can get up and go to the dentist tomar, lovely, lovely!!! | Tuesday, January 27th, 2009 | 3:04 pm |

Realization.. It's funny how fast it hits you that certain people just aren't worth your time anymore. Some people mature and change for the better. I'm thankful I'm one of those people. | Friday, January 23rd, 2009 | 6:11 am |

Sorry.. Haven't Written In a Loooong Time OK, so I haven't written in forever, but I've seriously been CRAZY busy. Hmmmmmmm.. I don't know where to start. Well, my Birthday was almost two weeks ago.. yea, I'm 20 now!! My dad and grandma came up the sunday after and took me out to dinner.. it was sooooooo good!!! This past weekend I was able to hang out with my best friend Amanda who goes to Buff State. My mom was downtown for the weekend, so we were able to meet her for lunch first. It was really nice to see my mom, but it's only about a month until I'm home for Thanksgiving. After Amanda and I went to the mall and I bought my Semi-Formal dress, woo hoo!!! Besides those fun things I have been pledging. I'm now going into my third week and it's awesome. I love my pledge sisters (Alpha Iotas).. they are the best!! Soooo many memories so far and I know there are a ton more to come. That's it.. I'm tired!!!! | Monday, January 19th, 2009 | 9:07 pm |
Semi-Quick Update OK, so I know I haven't updated in awhile and I might as well update now before things start to get a little more hectic. So, I guess I'll start with last week.Last friday Rush was still going on and there was a "suprise" for us all.It was a lovely stripper.. ahahahaha. Oh, and if any of you have watched True Life: I Want to Be a Stripper.. we had that guy.. Bailey.Hahahaha.. best part was when Martha was handcuffed and violated with the baton.Saturday was the Sig Ep mixer.I was able to see my favorite Sig Ep boys, Hannibal and Phill.. they are just friends!!!And of course this was the mixer where Franci and I were called boring, because we were sitting on the couch waiting for some girls to decide what they were doing.. ahhhhh, I am soooooooo not boring!!! Sunday my family came up to visit me!!!!It was seriously the best day of the weekend. 10 people from my family came to visit all bearing gifts, lol. It was basically a pre-birthday celebration, because my grandparents live in Florida and they actually left today to go back down south. We ate at Tony Roma's, which is an awesome place to eat. They gave us our own little space in the back of the bar area where they had a long table set up in front of the TVs (the bills were on). I opened some birthday presents there. The first was a sort of gag gift. They gave me a halloween glow in the dark thong with a spider on it!!! CRAZY!!! Then, my grandparents bought me the new Sims2 game and I have been obsessed with it ever since. My sister gave me a shirt and some make-up and then my mom and step dad gave me a beautiful white gold cross necklace with 5 little diamonds around it. After eating we went to Target.. my favorite store!! I convinced my mom to buy me a few things.. thanks mom!! My uncle bought me a gift card there for my birthday and of course the amount isn't on there, so I don't really know, lol. Ahhhhh.. it was a great day and sooooo funny too!! We ALWAYS have a great time when we're together.. can't wait until Christmas when we can do it again. That night I had interviews for the sorority.. and I got a bid!! Wednesday I accepted my bid and last night I was pinned!! I am now an official Alpha Iota pledge, so bring on the fun!!! ps. I heart my pledge sisters!!! *muah* 8 days until my birthday!! and Amanda's B-DAy is tomorrow!!! | Sunday, January 18th, 2009 | 5:56 pm |

Hahahahhahaha.. isn't that the best?? I asked my sister about it later and she said my mom put her lunch in a vicotria secret bag and there the was a brown bag next to it (which was the wrong bag). She then asked me which one I would have picked to be her lunch!!! Ahahahahaha.. missing the family, but they come up sunday for a visit.. the whole family.. 11 including me!!!! | Saturday, January 17th, 2009 | 2:27 pm |

Ode to the Past.. Roomie Style!! So, it's a saturday night and I am not at the bars on Main Street. Instead, I decided to stay in this weekend and study hard core for my geography exam on tuesday. I really don't like geo, so it's crucial that I make sure I do good on the exam.. not to mention rush starts monday, so I'll be out soon enough. I just finished studying for the night and I was looking through all the pictures I brought with me, so I thought I'd share some with everyone. I decided to show everyone roomie pictures from the past two years.. freshman and some sophmore year pics. Ahhhhh, pictures are so much fun to look at. I just started laughing going through them all, because there have been sooooo many good times. I'd just like to thank everyone who made my past two years at school an amazing experience, especially Kim and Mandy who were there with me from the beginning. Mandy I miss ya down there on Main Street.. love you guys!!!Ummm.. somehow my pics got deleted.. sorry!! |
