01.08 11:37 Negribu!

Negribu zvanīt Tev. Nē, nē, nē. Baidos. Tada man neesi vajadzīga. Arī Tev diez vai tāds patīku. Tāpēc, saproti, mana maziņā, ka nezvanīšu Tev vairs. Sapratīšu, ja nosauksi mani par cūku. Atļauju. Taču Tu manā atmiņā paliksi tikai no labākās puses.

Hmm... Šodien pat nezinu, vai visu to gribu. Varbūt vienkārši mierīgi pasēdēt mājās, a?

Not long after men decided that beating each other with rocks and sticks was'nt very dignified they created a useful little weapon called a sword. Swords have been around for centuries now, and have been created by all different kinds of nationalities.
Some of the oldest recordings of quality blades were in the 5th century B.C., Iberian blacksmiths were already forging swords known as the Falcata which the inside of the blade was iron, specialy designed to increase the bluntness of the slash. The Roman leader Hannibal heard of the fame of these swords and supplied them to his centurions. Thus began the legacy of the Toledo blade.

During the Middle Ages, not only the quality of the blade was important but the shape as well. King Richard the Lion Heart had led the christian crusades and had all of his swords made in the shape of the cross. So he and his men could pray to the cross without having to be in a church. When the Muslims were defeated they adopted the sword making technique and started making better Scimitars for themselves.

In 17th century Europe, around the year 1625 Rapiers were the choice weapon of the swordsmen. Even though dueling had been deemed illegal, disputes still had to be settled. So the duelists would meet on the field of honor for either a fight to the death, or a fight to show the better swordsmen. Each duelists had a friend know as a Second check both swords for length and style, so neither person had an advantage.

Also during the time of the Renissance, aristocrats had thier blades made in a wavy pattern known as a Flamberge' or Kris. They mistakenly thought that it would make thier blades more deadly. But the wavy blade did have one advantage, when the opponent's blade ran down the blade of the Flamberge' it would vibrate and slow the speed of the straight sword. Plus the aristocrats felt more decorative wearing this type of sword.

Kings and their empires from all over the world were designing swords, and many of them heard about the steel that came from Spain. Even the Japanese Samurai were learning the secrets of spanish steel from trade merchants, and they were incorperating it making thier Katana and Wakizashi swords. The Japanese not only considered the sword as a weapon, but an honorable artform.
In 1876 The Japanese government banned wearing swords in public. This highly offended the Samurai, so they created swords inside of bamboo sticks for concealment, they were known as the Bamboo stick Katana. Now the Samurai could have the swords in public ( disguised as a walking stick ) while still evading the law.

Some of the best swords in the world were made with steel that was soft and contained a high carbon content. Forging at 1454 degrees F. and having to have an exact time interval to make the perfect blade. Some craftsman used to recite psalms and prayers to keep the perfect time.

One of the stranger ways of forging that I have read about was that the sword manufacturers in Solingen Germany would take carbon wire of different types and thread them together in the shape of a sword. Then they would melt them down and then you would have a well made sword, due to the threadlike infrastructure.

Swords are not only a big part of our worlds history, but it is a big part of our imagination as well. The Honor, Might and Mystery of the sword is alive and well in the world of fantasy, whether it be in books or movies. The characters in these worlds almost always have a sword at thier side, and sometimes the blade may be thier best friend. Almost each character has givin his or her sword a name, due to the magical powers bestowed on it, or because of the age or what the blade was designed for. If we can not wear our swords at our side, at least our men and woman of fantasy can, and we can always keep them in our mind.

The raw leaves of the tea tree were surely used as food from very early times by the native populations of the regions where they grew. In Chinese legend, or myth, the qualities of tea are said to have been first discovered by the Second Emperor, Shen Nung (Divine Healer) (reputed to have reigned 2737- 2697 B.C.), who also discovered millet, medicinal herbs, and invented the plough. His predecessor, Fu-hsi, the First Emperor, had given humanity knowledge of fire, cooking, and music, while the Third Emperor completed the Promethean task of human happiness by revealing the secrets of the vine and astronomy.

There is an early mention of tea being prepared by servants in a Chinese text of 50 B.C.. Certainly tea was being cultivated in Szechwan by the third century A.D.. The first detailed description of tea-drinking is found in an ancient Chinese dictionary, noted by Kuo P'o in A.D. 350. At this time the fresh green leaves were picked, then pressed into cakes, that were roasted to a reddish hue. These were crumbled into water and boiled with the addition of onion, ginger, and orange to give a kind of herbal soup that must have been very bitter but was considered to be good as a remedy for stomach problems, bad eyesight, and many other diseases.

In A.D. 519 the great Indian master Bodhidharma, the traditional founder of the Zen school of Buddhism, came to China. The Japanese sometimes claim that he brought tea with him from India, which seems unlikely; another story says that when he found himself growing weary after staying awake for seven years, he plucked off his eyelids. He threw them to the ground and two tea trees sprang up that had the power to keep him awake and alert. There is certainly an ancient Buddhist tradition of drinking tea before an image of Bodhidharma. However, the same story is also told about the origins of opium!

A major turning-point in the history of tea came in the 8th century, with the composition of the Cha Ching, the Classic of Tea by Lu Yu in 780, which summarizes everything known at that time about every aspect of tea growing and preparation. This seems to have been commissioned by the tea merchants of the time to give a new impetus to the consumption of tea in the upper classes. It certainly succeeded.

The crumbled cakes (or bricks) of tea were now boiled with nothing but a little salt and this was the form of tea that became the national drink of the elite in China's Tang dynasty (618-907). Moreover, since this kind of tea could be transported easily, a taste for it spread far beyond China, into Tibet, along the Silk Road to Turkey and India, and into Russia.

13.06 16:37 Serge Gainsbourg & Jane Birkin - Je T'Aime ... Moi Non Plus

The song was first recorded by Brigitte Bardot and Serge Gainsbourg in October 1967 and should have been released at the end of 1967. On demand of Brigitte Bardot the song was not released until 1986.

The second version, sung by Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg, was released in February 1969 and became an international hit. Nowadays it is an Eurosleaze classic.

One of Gainsbourg's biographers has pointed out that Bardot sounds too lascivious and experienced on the song, whereas Jane Birkin's voice gives the impression of someone far younger and more virginal, which gives her version a more erotic appeal.

Serge Gainsbourg, born Lucien Ginsburg, (April 2, 1928 - March 2, 1991) was a poet and singer.

He was born in Paris, France the son of Jewish Russian parents. He had one daughter, Charlotte Gainsbourg, from his marriage to Jane Birkin.

His early songs were influenced by Boris Vian. However, Gainsbourg wanted to break free from old-fashioned chanson and explore new musical grounds, influenced by British and American pop. During his career, he wrote the soundtracks for more than 40 movies.

His most famous song, Je t'aime ... moi non plus, was vocally very erotic. Originally recorded with Brigitte Bardot, it was released with a different female singer, future wife Jane Birkin, when Bardot backed out. Considered too "hot", the song was censored in various countries and in France even the toned-down version was suppressed.

Brief notes:

  • "Poupée de cire, poupée de son" for the Eurovision Song Contest.

  • "les Sucettes", and France Gall's horror as discovering the real meaning of the lyrics.

  • daughter Charlotte, and the controversial video for "Lemon Incest"

  • controversial reggae version of "La Marseillaise" "Aux armes etc..."

  • controversy surrounding "Je t'aime Moi non plus"

  • Bob Marley was furious when he discovered he made Rita Marley sing erotic lyrics.

  • towards the end of his life, Gainsbourg used to show up drunk and unshaven on stage

  • once he burned a 500 French Franc bill on TV to protest heavy taxation

Izrādās, ka vienai uz to pašu pusi, kur man.
