Settlements and City Strategies by Lekan Jeyifous http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/dyt/~3/w9WRRWiXH3c/ http://designyoutrust.com/?p=435612 “Settlements and City Strategies’ series contains abstracted planimetric drawings and eerily-serene cityscapes that suggest the changing contours of urban settlements. They represent an idea of a degenerate futurism, yet one might find similar typologies and scenes in places such as the favelas of Brazil and North Africa, and in overpopulated cities such as Lagos, Mexico City, and Mumbai. Though outputted digitally, the drawings possess a textured and painterly quality as a result of combining hand-drawn sketches, industrial textures, surfaces of deteriorated paper, and digital architectural models.A constant interplay between digital and analog processes is important in my work, resulting in a highly layered set of documents. The drawings presented here started out as digital images that were outputted, sketched and drawn over, and scanned back into the computer in order to be retraced, textured, and layered.”

Radiohead Albums Reimagined as Vintage Paperback Books http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/dyt/~3/mHpftLL0oUo/ http://designyoutrust.com/?p=435643
Simon James, an artist living and working in London, has a penchant for taking albums and envisioning them as vintage Penguin & Pelican-style books. For his favorite band, Radiohead, he takes Pablo Honey, The Bends, OK Computer, Kid A, Amnesiac, Hail to the Thief, In Rainbows and The King of Limbs and then turns each track, on each album, into its own novel. You can buy the albums as “Album As Books Poster Print”.

The sport was popular at fairs, exhibitions and sports venues across the United States and several areas in Europe from 1911 until the late 1920s; but it was dangerous and carried the risk of injury and death to the participants and spectators.

RoboReel Power Cord Reel http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/dyt/~3/Yox7V_2KEnQ/ http://designyoutrust.com/?p=435694
Have you ever experienced the frustration of working with tangled extension cords? Great Stuff, Inc. has taken this problem to heart and designed an elegant solution that makes a seemingly mundane product worth being excited about.
The RoboReel is a portable, lightweight, and durable power cord reel. It features a 360° rotation capability and an one-touch controlled retraction system for safe and tangle-free automatic winding.
The cord has a smart three-outlet receptacle ball which acts as the interface for the retraction button, on/off switch and three LED indicator lights. RoboReel can be used as a portable reel on the ground or hung from the ceiling.
RoboReel automatically shuts off power when it senses overheating or when the cord is accidentally severed. Controlled winding ensures there is no whipping action of the cord. Additionally, the winding stops automatically when it is obstructed. From these design considerations, it is evident that the makers of RoboReel put a lot of thought into the safety and usability of this product.

25 Exquisite Men’s Wallet Designs http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/dyt/~3/dJ0-Y9PU79s/ http://designyoutrust.com/?p=435934 Wallets are usually designed to hold banknotes and credit cards. With the introduction of the first credit cards, the modern bi-fold wallet with multiple “card slots” became standardized. Since then, pocket-sized wallets haven’t really changed much style wise. So why not try something new?
Even thou we’re starting to use our phone to pay for products, I’m still not comfortable with credit card companies, allegedly, tracking all of my purchases and then sharing it with health care companies. I think cash is still king, and you shouldn’t be afraid to carry a hefty wallet. The mainstream media has scared us into only using credit cards, because we will be robbed if we dare to carry cash. This idea is so juvenile and quite hilarious.
Not all wallets are made equal. Men’s wallets shouldn’t be shabby, weak, rough, or heavy. When I purchase a wallet, it needs to be well crafted. I’ve had numerous wallets in my past, and I can sincerely tell you that cheap stuff doesn’t last long. When you purchase quality items, they will last you longer. When you buy cheap crap you will have to continuously have to replace it every few months or so. If you appreciate and value well made products, then acquiring an exquisite walled is more than ideal.

Melbourne Design Guide http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/dyt/~3/my9mrJ4eJQU/ http://designyoutrust.com/?p=435994
Melbourne is the unofficial design capital of the Southern Hemisphere! Way down where the wild things are is this stylish and super creative meeting place that blends classic, cool design, with an irreverent spirit and technical nous. There’s world-class art, fashion, music and architecture, and a whole whack of independent, free-spirited designers dishing it upside down. In the 19th century, this area which once harbored convicts, was rushed by gold and glamour; today the “world”s most liveable city” is a practical playground of good design.
Here you will find a list of the best design places to visit in Melbourne, from the most glamorous hotels and restaurants to the best design and art galleries where you hunt some of the Australian culture.

Tent House by Nomena http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/dyt/~3/0FnvBA9zAZA/ http://designyoutrust.com/?p=436038
Tent House is a minimalist house located in Lima, Peru, designed by Nomena. The project is a private beach house near the Pacific Ocean. The architects wanted to design a home that was functional, thus, the concept to create an existent beach tent was conceived. The program is divided into two parts: private life and social living. The first one is located at ground level with a high functionality and few vertical perforations making it a low lighted object. It works as a solid platform that allows the social living to be above it as an open space with no internal divisions, with a panoramic view under a weightless plane.
