Max Payne sequel screens appear
Take 2 takes a second pop at the world's happiest man.
Although it was kept pretty much under wraps at this year’s E3, the sequel to Take 2’s Max Payne, The Fall of Max Payne, seems to be getting a bit of exposure lately, namely with the emergence of these first screens.
Very little has been confirmed about the game to date, and the fact that the shots look very much like cut-scenes doesn’t help matters either. It can be assumed, however, that Max will be a bit miffed and so therefore find solace in venturing around a series of dark and gloomy environments shooting lots of bad guys. One thing the images can confirm, though, is that Max now seems to be completely devoid of his ever-present constipated grimace – perhaps level one features the quest for a high fibre diet.

For those who haven’t been paying attention, UFO: Aftermath is a combination of small squad tactical combat and global strategy where the player will pit their wits against an alien invasion. You will need to use all your skills and abilities to defend Earth from its destruction.
Altar Interactive’s updated features for the game are as follows:
Simultaneous combat system - a natural blend of real time and turn based action. RPG elements - each soldier's ability increases with each successful mission. Region dependent graphics - the style of buildings, the type of flora will vary depending on what areas of the Earth the player is fighting on. Destructible environments. Resource management - research new technologies, weapons and fight against the biomass. Bulletproof (ballistic permeability)- each object or amour used in the game will affect the damaged inflicted by weapons. Directors cut – a replay mode where the player can review the most exciting moments of a mission through a special movie-like camera. Advanced AI – the enemy will interact with the environments and react realistically to attacks. Save the Earth. With a small group of survivors fight against an unknown danger from space in this tactical strategy game set in the not too distant future.

Treasure developing Gradius V
E3 info-overload swamps some of the best news all year During E3, Konami announced that it had commissioned Ikaruga developer and cult legends Treasure to develop the latest instalment of Gradius, the famed horizontal shooter series and one of Konami’s leading franchises.
Exactly how this was missed has not been uncovered, though you can rest assured that we have been burning ourselves with self-hatred, if that makes you feel any better.
The magnitude of this news is still reverberating around our brains, with Gradius V rocketing up our most wanted list like nothing before seen.
We can now expect what is shaping up to become one of the greatest 2D shooters of all time, fusing treasure’s game-mechanic mastery with the dark, evolving and brilliant world spawned by Salamander all those years ago.
As soon as we get any more details on this PS2 outing, you’ll be the first to know |
